Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB
$299
The sensible adult's first turntable — no audiophile hazing required. Direct drive means it's up to speed instantly, the USB out lets you rip records to digital, and it's built to be tinkered with rather than babied. Swap the stock cartridge in a year or two and it punches well above its price. It won't make you insufferable at parties; it'll just quietly get you hooked on vinyl.
